Classical Books that could change your life: Lacon or many things on few words; addressed to those who think by Rev. Charles Caleb Colton
Charles was not just a Reverend, he was also an eccentric, with invaluable opinions and a brilliant philosopher. He lived an exemplary life many centuries ago and authored many books including Hypocrisy, a satire, Moscow, a poem, Critical remarks on lord Byron and many more.

Today, we go through one of his literary work, "Lacon or many things in few words; Addressed to those who thinks", a fine piece of work put together in a tactical way published in the 1820s. The book has attracted a number of vituperative remarks and criticism as a result of its name but Caleb, vindicating his book prevaricated - " But a volume addressed to those who think is in fact addressed to the world; for although the proportion of those who do think, be extremely small, yet every individual flatters himself that he is one of the number", and as you would guess it contains lots of live changing words succinctly written and mind you, the author was right, is meant for those who think and perhaps those that would love to change the way they think.
Many a time, most of us would skip a books' preface to get to the main content but curiosity and the captivating title of book would want one to consume the whole book like a hungry leopard at the sight of its prey, even the book cover.
If you are here I would love to assume that you are here to make changes in your life by changing the way you think. Allow me take you through the preface.
Normally I would skip the preface of a book but as I said earlier Caleb's title did a good job of convincing me to go through all part of the book. The preface contains lots of wisdom quote but let's go through a few of it, Caleb point to his contemporary world and in his brilliance, predicted the coming modern world. Knowledge would be free air and common as water, he said but if acquired through some medium; prejudice, custom, college or of the cloister, is most likely to be adulterated. He pointed out the value of interaction as "those who studies book would know how things ought to be but those that studies men would know how thing are". The essence of practice, and the different purpose we are here to serve on Earth as "in the same meadow, the Ox seek herbage, the Dog, the Hare and the Stock the Lizard".
"Looking into everything but of seeing into nothing" was how Caleb describe the essence and importance of Focus as focusing on a thing would avert you the cost of diversion and overwhelm and would avail the chance of being a pro in your chosen path.
And as last word, "Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread", think about it!
Caleb's 'reflections' are worth the read, get one today!

The enemy within

“ Our doubts are traitors and make us loose the good we off might win, by fearing to attempt ” William Shakespeare.        Doubt has been our closest enemy, a traitor and a foe and we have not been paying attention to it. According to Wikipedia, “It is a mental state in which the mind remain suspended between two or more contradictory propositions, unable to assent to any”.         With doubt you are unable to choose between a law or a business school as a career choice, Oxford or Harvard? You are unable to decide which house you would love to live in, where should I invest my limited capital in? Banking or the Housing industry? Should I propose to my girlfriend or not and a whole lot more.         The human mind is a vast space and can take it a lot of information BUT can process a few seamlessly.     ...
