Coronavirus and depression

"I find hope in the darkest of days and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe" Dalai Lama
It is no more a news that a virus is at the verge of putting the world at its feet; the Coronavirus. The world economy crumbles as small businesses fades into thin air, the tycoons are not left unscathed. Doctors and scientists are at their best trying to contain the spread of the virus and to produce Vaccines alike. Businessmen and the rich are getting impoverished and the poor are only trying to get their stomach wall from collapsing. Debt relief and palliatives here and there but, the worlds' market  is closed! As the economy is depressing so are the people depressed!
How do I get back to my business? How do I meet my loan schedules and framework and avoid accumulating interest to Everest high? How do I pay my employees, the employers ask? The employees can get a pay cut but how do they feed their dependent family? The employers retorted! The employee however is in his room depressed, thinking how he would feed his family with a pay cut. All these questions are reasonable but unnecessary because they would only lead you to depression.

So, what is depression? Depression is the last stage of hopelessness. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It affects how you feels, think and behaves and can lead to variety of emotional and physical problems.
The world is tearing apart and all your wind could whisper is ' a hopeless world for you afterwards and your head keep nodding in affirmation. It could get really messy and lead to self harm.
Medically, depression are often caused by chemical imbalance in the brain, mostly in certain neurotransmitters found in the brain (mono amines such as serotonin and norepinephrine) and according to world health organization, more than 264 million people of all ages suffer from depression, you definitely do not want to add to the number! It is different from the usual mood fluctuations and short live emotional responses to challenges in everyday life and at its worst can lead to suicide.

       What leads to depression?
A number of things could lead to depression ranging from brain chemistry, genetics, substance use, stress and a whole lots more but the one affecting the world right now is over thinking; Over thinking as a result of adverse life events. As a flowing river, life is dynamic and not static, changes are inevitable, you can only change the way you react.
How do I avoid depression? Keep yourself busy with what you like and avoid lonely places, change the way you react to adversities, keep pets, movie night with loved ones, read books, exercises and  music. Talk to a therapist or loved ones. And you will be fine. Then She Was Gone: A Novel
